I plant my seeds directly into the pots that they will live out their lives in. My germination rate is very good. I can't remember the last time I didn't get a bean to sprout. I planted 7 seeds this time and got 7 plants.

As for the paper towl technique and the re potting all the time, I have no idea why anyone would want to do it. I could see starting them in smaller pots and then sexing them to remove males. That way you wouldn't waste a bunch of dirt on a male. The paper towl method, or other similar ones, is just complicating a very simple proceedure IMO.

I'll be interested to read why someone feels that popping seeds under a paper towl is better then starting them in wet dirt.
