    anyone got a minute?

Hello, I planted 2 seeds in my kitchen by a window just for the hell of it b4 I left on a weeks vacation. When I returned I found 2 plants about 5 to 6 inches tall, each with 2 round leaves and 2 jagged ones a little higher up the stem. So I did what any good pothead would do and I went out and bought 2 85 watt flouros each giving off 1600 lumens, some good soil, peat moss, and some new pots with good drainage. They are now almost 2 weeks old and are about 6 to 8 inches tall and are each starting to grow 2 more leaves by the other jagged ones. The problem is they seem so tall for their size and the stems are being held up by toothpics, If I removed the toothpics they will fall over. The jagged leaves are gettting a little bigger and new ones are forming it seems so is the weakness of the stems or the 8 inch height a problem? Oh yeah I just but a fan near them yesterday for some light wind. the flouros are 2 inches from the top of the plant and on all the time. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.

are you using a little too much fertiliser? i had 2 plants drop on me, i cut down the fert to half therecomended dosage and after a week or so they where able to stand freely again, then i just put the fert quantities back up

its not a problem really if they do fall, they will just grow along and then up when they have enough strength, some people actually train there plants to grow horrizontally due to restricted height in there grow room amongst other reasons

my 2 that dropped i propped up with a bit of wire and made sure i had a fan blowing on them constantly, this improves stalk strength and also helps keep them with a nice fresh supply of co2 and gets rid of the 02 they putting out

id back the lights off slightly aswell maybe up to about6 inches - a foot to givethem a little break from the struggle, and maybe even consider giving them an 18/6 cycle as roots grow more during the dark period and the top during the day, mind you someone may come and totally rubish what ive said so give it a while for others to disagree or agree with me

Sorry teenagekick5, I must disagree with your fertilizer answer. As too much fertilizer doesn't cause stretching, it would kill young sprouts like that. If the plants were near the window, then they are not getting the light they need. That's why the stems stretched. CrystalBaller, you need to prop those plants up before the fall over. Get that light nice and close and keep it on 24/7 for the veg phase. You don't want to add any fertilizer until they have their 5th set of leaves. Meanwhile checkout www.overgrow.com they have a great section on growing with lots of information.

Yeah nothing personal. You're right, it is better to compare a lot of advice and make judgements bessed on your own grow setup.
