Just a Hello, harvest, and my two sensi worth
..... but not too bad for an old fart
lol I tell ya right from, the start I thought I was going to get the equipment, slam some seeds in the whatever and I was going to gow killer bud....eeehhhhhhhhhh,...wrong!!!! Well I did alot of reading before and after advice from experienced people but Mr. Z gave me the reality synopsis right from the get go, "You don't want to try to grow weed like I do (KBS) and also its going to take you at least three grows kjust to break even on the equipment expense". Naturally I responded with " Yeah I do I want to grow just like you do it( cause of course I think I'm just going to grow the kind before the seeds have even germinated)" well here it is nine months later and about three grows and about even on start up cost and I did get the nac for about 1/3 of the essential equipment to be able to operate a KBS growroom the only other thing I need besides the other 2/3(approx. $6,000) in equipment is about 25 years of experience
. Point is it's cool to set your sites but reality is not hard to find but its a whole lot easier if you get someone who knows the path to give you some advice.
You can learn a great deal by reading and really if your new at it you need to read and absorb the basic information, like; Space, Lights, If hydro: your have system types, grow medium, fertilizer, irrigation, Lumens, Security: odor, electrical, risk, legalities, theives, as well as seeds, strains, timers , light schedules, ventilation, heat, humidity and the list goes on, I personnally found it to be a hobby and its fun and interesting but it can and does involve technology, or so I found it to. I mean some just do the basics , poke a hole in some dirt put a seed in it and water it, Not such a bum deal and not at all bad for growing a lil stash. Point is got to have an idea where ya want to get to before ya can figure out a direction to take. In the beginning I was going to grow using a system that requires better than $8000 to set up with only a couple grand......
HELLO!!! Read up on all the enormous resources of information.
My initial plunge into the abyss was using the Ebb and Flow bucket system( why? Cause it was the first system I saw a picture of , lol. Went from 12 buckets on the floor of 96 square foot area connected with pvc pipe and caulking to buckets on boxes connected by vinyl hose and rubber grommets, still as ebb and flow with manual watering being extra to necessary. And finally to contiuous , ball valve regulated 1/4" black tubing drip system.but taking about 300 steps back. Here is a link to the "multi Flow System", not that it is the cadillac of growing but it gives you alot of the basics of a ststem and I found the site easy to navigate and alot of useful information is right there including competitive pricing to give you an idea on what hydor stuff cost..... http://www.hydroponics.net/items/details/multiflow.asp
Now you can use any hydro retailer I just found this one easy , organized, and informative.
When I finally got a list of hydro system requirements I had:
2- 1000 watt HPS Bat wing Reflector
1-400 watt MHwith bat wing
100 ft roll of Mylar
GH three part nutrient
superthrive
Ph Up
ph down
Hanna digital ph, ec, ppm meter
ph calibration solution
Ppm/ ec calibration solution
pvc glue
pvc fittings and pipe
2 submersible pumps ,
2 50 gal drums
5 gallon buckets
two squirl cage fans
2 bake arounds (for kool tubes)
aluminum ducting
plastic ducting
tape
two 50 liter Hydroton
GH air pump up to 16 lines
2 small aquaium air pumps
1/4"drip line
drip line fittings
rubber grommets
50 ft vinyl hose 3/8"( and not the the soaker hose that has tiny lil holes in it like I got
)
3/8" fittings ( I had 1/2" hose and 3/8" fittings)
3 timers
small rockwell cubes
cloning gel
root stimulator powder
cloning solution , Oliveas
3 gallon inner planting containers
1 (2) bulb flourescent light
floor fan..........
.....
I'm sure I left out a few things but that was a start and thats not to mention what I was able to use that was laying around the house. Well just the beginning. Alot of trial and error, changes and why, improvements, good luck and set backs to follow
BILL THICK Reviewed by BILL THICK on . Just a Hello, harvest, and my two sensi worth "Just dropped in to see what condition your condition is in".... ...Kind of like that expression. Gonna retire my grow room for awhile, wanted to say thanks and put my :twocents: in (few photos, couple post on this thread on the experience , what I learned , n stuff) Started my indoor growing project back in March 2005 with alot of help from this forum and have managed to get about four harvest.
