A couple days ago I built a vaporizer out of a light bulb, following this tutorial: http://www.overgrow.com/growfaq/1376.

I'm not sure how well it's working. After a few seconds of holding the lighter under the glass, I can see a thin stream of a white vapor coming out. I'm not sure if this is just smoke though. If I really torch it, the weed will heat up enough to cherry, and then it's obvious that I'm inhaling smoke, not vapors.

Should I be seeing the thin stream of vapor, or is this just smoke? (i.e., is THC vapor colorless or not?).

It seems like I can't get very big hits from it. I might just go get a decent bong.

Also, is it best to grind up the pot so you get more surface area per volume of pot? It seems to me like only the THC crystals on or near the surface would evaporate. Or will whole buds work just as well?
