    Colored film affecting light?

Considering all the red and blue spectrum people face problems with I remembered an old experiment an old teacher of mine did. What she did was take 3 plants and put 3 different colored translucent sheets over them. There was a green one, a red one, and a blue one. Although I cannot remember the outcomes of the red and blue plants I do remember that the green one was doing very horribly. She said it was because the plant was green and had no use for green light. I figured that having this colored film over the plant or the light itself would change the actual kelvin output of the light. So my question is, Would putting a specially colored blue film sheet around the light make the plant do better in its vegatation period? Or the same with the red for the flowering. It's kind of a wierd concept, but I'm hoping that having something like this could make the people with only MH or only HPS have a much better outcome. Thanks in advance.

    Colored film affecting light?

well put it in short no plants see green light they only see huges of blue and red as u now blue red an green are primary colors so any colors other then does are created by mixing certain amounts of those colors to create new colors like purple orange yellow and so on putting a blue film over a hps or a red film over a mh might work but i'd assume it'd also filter out esential ultra violet rays and lumens output towards those plants now i havent worked with colors since highschool but im also guessing my statement is made as a educated hypothesis anyone else have any input or clarrifications ?

Using colored gels or painted bulbs does nothing to alter the light spectrum.Ive heard of these green bulbs for flowering, but have no idea how they produce that spectrum because just painting the bulb does nothing as the plants still see the light spectrum that passes thru the paint.Urban myths die hard.-usdi Agaluga
