Can a cut seed still grow?
i was cutting up some northern lights that a buddy of mine grew and i found a seed. but i acidentaly cut the top corner of the seed off. i was wondering if any one thought it might still grow. i planted it and im in waiting. it was the only seed out of a 1/2 oz. so i wanted to keep it.

You'd think it would, but the same thing happened to me with a seed I KNEW was going to germinate and it never sprouted. I dunno, it might for you but mine didn't. Goodluck.

hey JOHHNY
PLANT it and let us know what happens... you probably can write a paper and get a PHD.... study on damaged pot seeds. and even if you cant get a phd ... you will have informed all of us.. : )
love
it would also be cool to see soome pictures ... before and during germination...

It may have dried the cotyldon (or whatever it's called..the embryo) out..or it may allow fungus into the center while you are germinating...
But give it a shot, man..

I agree with the other person. Putting a chipped seed in dirt exposes it to a lot of bacteria/fungi/enemy of the seed. I think that i would of used bottled water and a paper towel to see if it would germinate.

a lot of people score thier seeds so they germinate faster. if it is scored too much it will ruin it. score the right amount and it will let in water to expand the seedling right away before mold would have a chance to grow. Remember, stagnant water grows mold not fresh water. You have more of a chance of mold with unscored seeds because they take longer to germinate and that gives the moisture the time it needs to grow mold.
which greatly increases risk of damping off
