CALLING ALL COMPUTER TECH'S
Ok. I know that VNC works over wireless as I use it myself to occassionally access my basement pc from my laptop upstairs in the kitchen. It's a bit flaky sometimes but it works. Once the "server" is installed on the remote machine, the host can log in anytime as long as the remote is booted up and sitting at a login prompt or if the user is already logged in. And like I said, it's free. You won't need the user to do anything but sit there and wait and it should work as long as you know the ip add of his machine. (you might need to be set up on the same subnet as he is, not sure about that one) You should be able to talk even the dumbest user through opening a command window and typing in ipconfig at the command prompt which will tell you is ip, subnet mask and gateway address (ie...ip add of his router or cable modem).
