Really the only household alternative to aluminum that I know of is a bolt socket for wrenches (1/4"). They're those things that usually come in sets of all different sizes and you clip the square end to the wrench and use the hex side for the bolt.
i have no problem w/ a bowl, its just the PIPE piece that i'm haveing difficulty with
