If it were true, the heightened sense of sceptisism could result in a needy person receiving less than possible.

I think you said it all..we can be deceived by our neighbors not just on the net imo. I have a work car I was going to give to Trichome but the emails we exchanged he never asked about the car just money so I didn't reply ...but I would still help anyone that I believe will help themselves. I get that from my early years and now I am blessed to have a husband that provides well for me..he really does but I never take it for granted. He almost got me but when he wasn't interested in the car I backed off but I was going to help him.
