Animal control for cats...now that's a hoot. Check out this link. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...feralcats.html

This issue came up recently in Wisconsin when a bill was introduced to allow people to eliminate them whenever they see them. (currently it's illegal to kill a cat for any reason in most states, feral or otherwise, whereas it is almost a requirement for hunters to shoot feral dogs and perfectly legal) It created a nationwide stir as the animal rights activists were predictably appalled at the concept. However, these cats are a nuisance and have created a big problem for protected and endangered species of birds, rodents and fish and for all practical purposes, they have no natural predators except for raptors and a few oppurtinistic feeders like foxes, wolves, coyotes, etc. But cats are quick, clever and fierce and not an easy kill for some predators. They spread diseases like feline lukemia and who knows what else. I have nothing against cats and it's idiot pet owners who don't neuter their pets are a big part of this problem. But at this point, even if every pet feline in the US were neutered or spayed, it's too late for that.
