Lime and Ammonium Nitrate a No No!??
Lime is an acid base and pure nitrogen and acid don't play well together. They can produce heat that may burn small roots. As well as some other results your plant may not like.
But in truth I have never tried growing pot with pure nitrogen in the dirt. One of the things Nitrogen does in dirt is to soften it up so roots can move around easer and find water. When I have ever used it was on my lawn after I aerated the yard but every time i just added water period.
That is a cocktail I would never use but this is one area I must admit I am not as strong as others.Zandor Reviewed by Zandor on . Lime and Ammonium Nitrate a No No!?? I don't use dolomite lime but I do have ammonium nitrate in my ferts. I read somewhere that the ammonium nitrate will interact with lime and produce toxic ammonia gases also making the nitrate unavailable to the plant. I'm raising this as a possible problem for the pro's to confirm as I could imagine a lot of soil growers would use these ingredients. Zandor do you know anything about this? Rating: 5
