I'm going to prom in a tutu and combat boots. I say fuck the stereotype that all chicks gotta be 97 lbs and 5'11. That's not me. I love my body and while I'm not Lindsay Lohan i.e anorexic, I'm still pretty fuckin' hot. Haha, no but seriously..I hate dress shopping, or clothes shopping for that matter because of all the hype about how you have to dress/look a certian way. I don't feel comfortable in skirts 2 inches from my cooter and shirts that might as well be a thong.

BUT the dresses are made to attract the boys at prom, I mean come on..almost ever teen at prom is going to go to some beach house or a hotel..get smashed and sexed up. It's kind of like, right of passage.

The thing with dress shopping is though, it seems hopeless for like, weeks, and then when you think you aren't going to get a dress and just stay at home watching I Love Lucy re-runs or something, you find the perfect dress and are all excited again.

i never went to prom. i actually didnt know prom was happening til the week before it happened; i was probably too stoned to notice. i went to one high school dance, one time, and i wore a corset and had blue hair. if i'd gone to prom i'd have worn something strange -- tutu and combat boots sounds great, BabyFacedAbortion.

I agree with beachguy. if your daughter's into the idea, get her a big pretty cinderella dress. or whatever sort of nice, not whorish formal dress she can be proud of.

I never went to my proms either...no date and no money(probably spent on weed) And because I was too cool to waste my time on some damned dance. On the other hand, might have been fun. Besides...far too white and Irish to be dancing. And if my baby wants to go to the prom...she will.
(and like most fathers, I am in comlete denial about the whole rite of passage thing with the kegs and the motels and the skirts over the head in the back of the toyota...surely not my daughter )

Anyhow, I went to my prom. I went with my then girlfriend, who- Though I care for her very much, WAS a bit zoftig- and she looked amazing. She and her mom are both slightly overweight, and they went dress shopping together until they found the perfect Cinderella type dress. Big girls usually have some tig ol bitties, and if they want to feel sexy, a push-up cinderella dress'll do it (and get the attention she wants to boot), while still retaining her modesty and making sure she's comfortable.

My advice is to skip the whole thing. I didn't make any big memories, I just got drunk, laid and passed out. BIG FUN.

if i ever do have a kid and it by some odd chance i get a girl, i want her to be open with herself and what she does....i want her to tell me shes sexually active whens shes gonna be doing what substances and shit i dunno about anyone else but if your little girl was just molested/date raped at a party and was piss drunk throwing up everywhere wouldnt you want her to be comfortable enough to call you for help? this is where i feel %99 of father fuck up and dont realise.....sure your girl might be the perfect little priss but good chances shes not but theres no reason to make it bad for her because you dont want her to have a life like you did with girls when you were younger, but then again....im 14
