hay i do mediumless DWC and my 5 gallon buckets get filled with roots im talking a huge root ball here so you might need more space than ah few inches

I am growing outside in So cal in a cement mixing tray ($5) from home depot. The water level is 1 1/2" deep. I have lava rocks in it to house beneficial bacteria. Inside the tray is a fountain/pond pump 130gph ($30). The pump runs 24/7. It's quiet. I have not changed the nutrients, just added to it. I started the swc Dec 15.
