So I got a camera from my grandma and I have a project comming up in video tech.I'm sure everyone in my class will be filming soccer games, football games, stupid ass made up commercials of the same things people did last year.But I wanted to shoot a 2-4 minute film over me walking through my high school in the morning before classes while reciting a witty,satiristic rant about high school.Anything good you think you can come up with please post it.Even if its one sentence.I want this to show Rating: 5

you should intersperse some footage of cheerleaders gossiping, jocks jostling people, nerds flinching, and teachers smoking with roughnecks in jail, homeless dudes, pervs, prostitutes to emphasize the vast unimportance of the learning institution and bullshit politics that go on in it.
That could be the future, of anyone on that tape. There but for the grace of god go I. I thought high school was so huge..but really it's just an excersize in humility and your peers will treat you crueller there than anywhere else. (unless you go to prison)

If you really want to capture a snapshot of your highschool you wont be able to do it in one take. You will need to film random bits throughout the schhol, day, week etc to really capture what you need to refect you point.
Observing the world through a lens gives you a totally different perspective, a vantage point
I would suggest you film as much as you can...watch it all, then incorporate what you wish to convey into these images with your editing. Your walkthrough dialogue will be much more poiniant (sp?) if the images compliment the words.

btw, I like scarletts angle as well. It kinda forces the viewer to reflect and think, to challenge themselves.

High School.....A place where a variety of teenagers can get together and learn in harmony regardless of there race, gender, or dress preference. Heh, you'd have to be a moron to believe this. A place where fashion rules and you're only cool if you have a cellphone with an mtv ringtone. A place where you have all the different groups who stick with only that group, very much like prison. A place where you can get in trouble for being smarter than the teacher. School prepares us for the outside world? Oh so that's where we learn to be fake from. Half the things taught at school aren't even used when you graduate. We are being taught a buncha second hand, even third and fourth hand, information and we are supposed to eat it up with a silver spoon. Bollocks to that.

Most likely, if you try to seem satiristic or somethin', it'll just turn out like a stupid truth commercial. I'm guessing this is really open-ended. If you want to really "oush the envelope" and don't mind getting in some deep shit, film an artistic pornography.

I wrote a short story that exaggerated middle school into a medieval style prison. And drew a picture to go along with it, it was actually quite good, I wish I had it still. I think for ISS (in school suspension), I had students being dipped in vats of boiling oil. And the principal had an executioner's mask and a guilotine behind him, etc.
