    Syriana - spoiler warning

I saw this movie over the weekend and it is excellent! I will be interested to hear how true some of the scenarios portrayed in the movie are to real world reality.

They show how China wanted to buy oil from the unnamed middle eastern country and was actually the highest bidder, but the USA, because they specificity wanted to keep the Chinese economy from growing as fast as it could used corruption to keep china from getting the oil it needed.

In addition to China wanting to buy the oil, there was also the fact that these oil kings could have ran new pipeline through Iran that would have allowed European countries to buy the oil, lowering oil prices in Europe and increasing profits for this country. This was also stymied by the American companies and government by assassinating the ā??good sonā? that wanted to do this. They also make the point that America only supports the oil kings that want to spend the money on themselves and not on infrastructures that would improve the lives of the everyday people in their countries.

This of course plays directly into the other part of the story of two poor out of work young men from this country that ultimately become recruited to be suicide bombers and blowup a LNG ship using a missile that was accidentally lost by the American government in a partly botched assignation on an Iranian king.

This movie certainly gets my pick and best picture of the year so far. The acting is absolutely fantastic, especially George Clooney and Matt Damon. I liked it so much I have seen it twice.

I have! It was pretty freakin awesome, actually. It basically brings the viewer to the conclusion that the US laid the groundwork not only for their (oil) interests but at the same time the very terrorist attacks we are at war over. Well done all around, it really kept my attention.

EXACTLY!! It really makes you question everything our government is telling us about Iraq etc. Like how they want Iraq to become self sufficient and use the money they make off of selling oil to build up their country and improve the lives of their people. Yet America, VERY SPICIFICLY, has been doing everything they can, including assainating key people, to keep all that from happening for decades!!!

    Yeah,

The major underlying questions raised by the movie Syriana are ā??

Has the USA done everything it possibly can for decades to prevent peace and stability in the middle east, including specific key assignations of people in power that were trying to improve there own countries with their oil money, AND sell oil to other countries that could possible be a future threat like China?

Did this process knowingly and intentionally create people in these countries to want to commit terrorist acts against the USA, sometimes with weapons lost in the very deals the USA was doing to deter these countries from profiting from their own oil sales?

And lastly did the USA see these terrorist acts committed on itself as beneficial to selling the American people to wage wars against those countries, if it ever decided it was necessary, so it could further prevent them from ever being able to be self sufficient and prosper from their own oil sales?

Its just a movie right? There is no truth to any of that... right? We really do want peace and stability in Iraq....

    Right?

Please leave me and my posts alone. The fact that you would get a dog high obviously shows you have no capacity for an intelligent conversation about anything let alone a subject as serious as this. Go talk about the movie Dukes of Hazard or something.
