Questions about "Adrenochrome"
For those who have wondered about Adrenochrome, from the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, all I had to do was google the word and sure enough, erowid came to the rescue.. here's a passage I found on the main Adrenochrome page on erowid, enjoy.. and check the link.
Adrenochrome is an oxidation product of adrenaline (ephinephrine, norepinephrine). It has achieved mythical status as a deliberately-ingested psychoactive -- boosted by H.S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas -- though it is debated whether is has any psychoactive effects at all.
Here's the link, it's pretty interesting: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/adre...e_basics.shtml

Questions about "Adrenochrome"
From imdb.com:
(under trivia for Fear & Loathing)
"Near end of this film, Duke takes too much "andrenichrome" and has a nasty experience. Andrenichrome was a substance that Hunter S. Thompson made up for the book when he originally wrote it, and was kept in the script by Terry Gilliam. The name itself wasn't new - Adrenochrome is an oxidation product of adrenaline, while Adrenochrome semicarbazone, also known as carbazochrome, is used as a medicinal drug to reduce capillary bleeding - however, neither compound is a hallucinogenic drug as portrayed in the book/film. After showing a rough cut of the film to a test audience, Gilliam was approached by a group of young men, one of which complimented him on the film in general, but said that his favorite scene was the andrenichrome scene. He said that he had used the drug and that Gilliam had captured the effects perfectly. Gilliam didn't have the heart to tell the kid that it was made up, and went along with his story."

it is not illegal, even erowid says "If you have information about the legal status of this substance in any other country, please let us know."...lol
"... Then came the discovery that adrenochrome, which is a product of the decomposition of adrenalin, can produce many of the symptoms observed in mescalin intoxication. But adrenochrome probably occurs spontaneously in the human body. In other words, each one of us may be capable of manufacturing a chemical, minute doses of which are known to cause Profound changes in consciousness. ..."

Questions about "Adrenochrome"
Adrenochrome's history is intimately tied to its identity as a metabolite of epinephrine. In Canada, it is rumored that during World War II, supplies of fresh adrenaline sometimes ran short. In emergencies, when some patients had to be given adrenaline from old stock -- adrenaline that had oxidized and turned slightly pink -- they experienced temporary hallucinations. This may have led to the legend of "pink adrenaline." This effect is substantiated today by product inserts in injectable epinephrine products which warn, "Do not use if it is pink, brown or contains precipitate. Epinephrine is sensitive to light and air, and is unstable in 5% dextrose.
It's pure adrenaline that's gone off. "Pulp Fiction - Giving her a shot of adrenaline to the heart" or something.
