    I also heard that you can put the chewing tobbaco in between your toes to get the same effect, because the skin there is so porous.

    Nicotine is water soluble, effects can be experienced by chewing it and tobacco harvesters can even get sick from handling wet leaf due to nicotine entering the body transdermally.

    AFAIK the THC found naturally in cannabis is a carboxylic acid, in this form it is inactive. Over time (by curing) or by heating it is decarboxylated into its more potent form.
