Question about a weird thing that happened to me....

Wow, Beachguy!! Thank God you're okay!! That looks pretty bad.

My doc was going to put me on Neurontin, but he said if I go off of the Topamax, I'll get some killer migraines for a while. I just had one the other day, & I just can't deal with them. I'm seeing this doc in a week or 2, but I don't even know what to ask him. I'm afraid if I stop the Topamax, my migraines will start up again.

I don't know, it was such a weird reaction, I can't imagine what happened. You can't die from it, can you?? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but I really don't know. I was also wondering if you could have seizures, because Topamax IS an epileptic drug. Or maybe it was because I took too many Tylenol PM's that day?? If it makes a difference, it was some kind of weed that's supposed to make you REALLY appreciate the Christmas lights.

You wrote about docs prescribing too high a dose of meds for patients. I am on a very high dose of Topamax. But this only happened to me one time. I'm not even sure it's the Topamax. I'm just guessing. I'm also on Cymbalta, Dicyclomine, 2 allergy pills, & prescription Pepcid. And Calcium. So it could be one of those??

What's Gripe water?? Where do you get it?? And I LOVE reading, so maybe I'll check out the book. I'm more into suspense type books, but maybe this is something I should look into. I really appreciate your help!!

In your 3rd. paragraph you don't understand what happened and you had such a weird reaction. In your 4th. paragraph is your answer. As I said in an earlier post, it's usually the combination of a bunch of drugs that causes such a reaction or reaction of any kind. Doctors are just beginning to find out these things and each of us is essentially a guinea pig for them and their pills. You gotta do what you can to get off the prescription drugs. Read the book I suggested and read others from that book's bibliography. Let me know if you have trouble finding the book.

Gripe water? You've never had a baby I take it. I think most parents know about Gripe Water. You'll find it in the baby section with diapers, wipes, baby lotions etc. It's used to settle baby's tummy or help a cholicy baby. There are 2 kinds. 1 has alcohol and 1 does not. Alcohol is used to make you drowsy. Better try the one without.

It could also quite possible that the weed you smoked wasn't properly flushed and you smoked some chemical residue like fertilizer of grow nurtients. Some growers are plain lazy about growing their weed. Towards the end of the flowering stage and just before harvest, no more nutrients should be added. The plants should be watered with water only. This helps the plant cleanse itself of the nutrients used to make it grow. So, when you smoke it, you are smoking plant and not a plant still laced with nutrient compounds. I've had some interesting reactions to this kind of impure pot and most of us on MM are very picky about the pot we smoke and how it was grown. We can only really handle clean and pure pot. Pot that has had its nutrients flushed out before harvest.

I hope this helps some more. MM isn't always the answer for everyone, but for most of us, it is a universal medication. Good luck in your search and don't stop learning. If I can be of more help just ask. :thumbsup:

Thanks, mfactor. That's pretty interesting, about growing it.... I never thought about that. Although as far as I know, I'm the only one it happened to. My sister smokes WAY more than I do, so her tolerance is much better than mine. Although my niece will be moving in with me in a few months, and she always has some, so I'm sure I'll be smoking much more once she moves in.

That's the first time that's ever happened to me, so now I'm beginning to wonder if it's what you said, about the grower, or maybe because I took so many Tylenol PM's that day. I'm seeing my Neurologist tomorrow, and I'm wondering if there's a way to sneak the question in. He knows I'm an addict.... I told him this when I was in recovery so he wouldn't give me any more Fioricets. I got into some serious trouble with them & Soma, but I'd kind of like to ask him without letting him know it's me who's smoking. But saying I have a "friend" who wants to know sounds like I'm in high school, LOL!! Any suggestions??

And you're right, I've never had kids. I always wanted them.... everyone thinks I'd be a great mom, but I never had them. But I have nieces & nephews & I've still never seen Gripe water. I've been in the baby section a million times. I'll have to look for it.

That's what I am here for. To help others in medical need. It's a shame some people feel the need to rip apart someone's sincere post, but this place is full of all kinds. Most just make me laugh and hit the ignore button. I enjoy the alternative news and politics discussions and there's no shortage of those on this forum. Then there are those like you, seeking help and if I can help, I will.

If your MD already knows you are an "addict", no point "sneaking the question in" as you suggest. Yup, that would be high schoolish. Might as well be up front with him. Tell him you've been doing research and and you want straight answers. I can tell you the "straight" answers he will give you and they won't be in favour of pot. He doesn't get paid by dealers to refer patients. He gets paid by pharmaceuticals to sell their pills. Sounds like you don't need any more pills. You need good, honest advice, answers and info.
If he is like most others these days, he knows you are going to be doing your research and seeking 2nd. and 3rd. opinions. Don't worry about it. Besides, a lawyer taught me once, don't ask a question you don't already know the answer to. I'd say you already know the answer to your question by now. Just sound him out. Trust your instincts and if you don't like what he says, ask him to refer you to someone else.

I don't think you have to tell him you are smoking persay. Just tell him you were researching on the net about the pills and such you are taking and you came across some pot links regarding smoking and taking pills and the combinations therein. Just ask him if smoking alone might be the answer. You can tell him you don't like taking so many pills and you are considering some healthier alternatives. After all, it's your body and you have a right to put good things in it, not just what the doc tells you because he "thinks" it is good for you. Shit, most doctors haven't a clue what's good for us medically because they are only repeating what the pharmaceuticals told them to say and the pharmaceuticals have no idea as they haven't done the long term tests to determine if a pill is healthy or harmful. Always remember this, if we are all healthy, pharmaceuticals will go out of business for lack of customers. So, it is in the best interests of pharmaceuticals and doctors to keep us sick so they always have a job and display profits. So, don't expect them to tell you the truth.

As for the Gripe Water, ask the store clerk. They'll show it to you. It's a clear liquid and tastes a little like licorice. One day you will probably have kids, but get off all the meds first and let your body cleanse itself so you minimize any chance for defects in the kids. Look what the combination of pills is doing to you now. Imagine what they will do to an unborn child.

Well, the only problem about telling the doctor I wasn't smoking is that I'm still pretty curious if the Topamax mixed with me smoking was responsible for my leg shaking so badly. IF I were to get off of the pills, it would take a while.... you have to get off of them slowly, or you could have seizures. And migraines.

Now here's another problem. Sounds dumb, but I don't know where to get weed. My sister & niece get it. I don't know if they'd get it for me, because of my past problems. My sister's an addict too, btw. They let me smoke it with them, though. I think once my neice moves in here with me, I'll be able to get it more. But for now, I only get to smoke once in a while. Which sucks, because I love it. It's funny, back in school, I smoked, and never once got high off the stuff. I never had a desire to try it again. Now I love it!!
