Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
Hey!! I'm new here.... I just found you guys yesterday. I have a weird question. Last week, I was smoking & when I was finished, I had a hell of a time walking or standing. My left leg was shaking.... almost like it was convulsing. I take Topamax for migraines every night. Topamax is also used for Epilepsy, which I DON'T have, but I was wondering if maybe that had anything to do with my leg shaking?? I've smoked before, & never had this reaction, so I don't know what was going on. I'm on other meds too, nothing narcotic or anything, but have any of you guys ever heard of this?? I don't want it to happen again, & I don't want to stop smoking!!

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
It's possible, although I am not familiar with topamax. I use just pot for my migraines. I would certainly be careful what kind of toxic coctail you are whipping up by taking topamax, smoking, and whatever other herbals/drugs you are taking.
For example, I learned I am allergic to T3's because I had a bad reaction to them one night. I phoned my doctor and was told T3's have high amounts of caffiene to offset the drowsiness effects of the codeine. I don't drink coffee or other caffiene laced beverages.
I would suggest you check with a doctor or naturopath with regards to all the medications you are taking and what effect those combinations have on you. If all else fails, just take the pot. It riles them to believe we perceive the (tangled) web they weave. - Justin Hayward/John Lodge

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
Thanks mfactor!!
Okay, dumb question, but what are T3's??
I also took a lot of Tylenol PM that day.... I know that has Benadryl in it. And I was pretty shaky all over, now that I think about it, but it was my leg that was COMPLETELY out of control.
Could it really be toxic?? I thought pot was harmless. Am I wrong??
As far as asking the doctor, what do I say?? I don't really want to tell him I smoke pot, so how do I ask him about this?? Any suggestions??~ You laugh because I\'m different.... I laugh because you\'re all the same ~

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
Yes, I was on Topamax, Baclofen (Muscle Relaxer), and Weed, because of a permanent foot/leg injury (they were still trying to cure it).
When I'd smoke Weed, I'd race about. When my apartment couldn't contain me, I went over to my neighbors, stood on his couch, and then went to get his dog out of his bedroom. I ended up scaring it as it was sleeping when I jumped on the bed. His bed was next to it.
Anyways, with my arms stretched out as far as possible, they shook unbelievably fast and figure this was what the Mayans took in order for their molecules to vibrate at such a high speed, that they'd be invisible.
If Topamax is a permanent thing for you, be very careful with the weed.

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
Hey Starchild!! I don't think my doc's into natural alternatives. I loved the Topamax because I lost a TON of weight on them. That stopped unfortunately, lol. I'm still thin, but I have to be careful now!! I've heard of Feverfew, but I don't know if I've ever tried it. How much would you suggest taking??
Beachguy.... how much Topamax were you on?? I'm on 400 mg's a night, which is a lot. I'm also on meds for some stomach problems, and one of the pills they give me for that are anti depressants, believe it or not. I also have a permanent foot/leg condition.... you wouldn't know it to look at me, but I'm in a lot of pain, all of the time.
When I smoke, I'm pretty mellow. I don't race around or anything. It's different every time. but this last time really freaked me out. I haven't been doing it that long. I was a pill popper, but I stopped doing that, because I'm an addict. But I smoke pot occasionally with my sister & I love it. But I've never had a reaction like this before.
You said if Topamax is a permanent thing for me, be very careful with the weed. What do you think can happen to me? I'm so clueless at this point. Because this is the first time this ever happened.
Thanks for your help guys!!~ You laugh because I\'m different.... I laugh because you\'re all the same ~

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
Hey Sweet Little Sister:
I think the advice you're getting here is good. Listen to Starchild. Natural remedies are the way to go and a regular MD (doctor) aint gonna go for them because he gets kickbacks from the pharmaceuticals to peddle prescription drugs.
T3's= Tylenol 3's. Pain killers of the serious kind. I took one too many and was like a pinball in a pinball machine bouncing off the walls.
Just remember, whatever you put in your body will mix with everything else and produce some kind of reaction. Some good, some bad, depends on the mix.
I was told to take SSRI's (mood disorder drugs) like Celexa, prozac, etc. but I can't and won't because of their serious side effects. I found a low dose of St. John's wort is fine for me. St. John's wort apparently contains some prozac according to my doctor. Starchild, as a naturopath, could confirm that for me. My point is, sometimes (most times) doctors prescribe medicines in too high a dosage for people. Sometimes, a much lower dose is all that is needed. This point is made clear in an episode of the original Star Trek in which Doctor McCoy figures that out for a patient.
Me, I take my St. John's Wort (300mg) daily, smoke weed (for migraines and depression), take an Ecanasia for the onset of a cold and maybe an occasional aspirin for pain. I take Gripe Water for an upset stomach. That's it! I am very careful about mixing these medicines by not taking them too close together before the body properly digests each of them. If I have acid indigestion, I take a teaspoon of vinegar. Not pepto bismol or Tums. The vinegar works far better.
If you like reading, get a book called "The Medical Mafia" by Dr. Guylaine Lanctot. It will change your mind completely about pharmaceutical medications. If your doctor is not into natural health remedies - switch doctors. It's your body and yours to look after not your doctor's. Your doctor is there to do what you want not what they want. Get informed. Using this forum is a good start.

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
I can't remember. But I think that (all three) helped bring back deep memories from before I was in a coma.
Here's a person who's on a lot of that stuff.

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
Hey mfactor!!
Thanks for the help!! I know my regular doctor isn't going to want to prescribe natural remedies, but even if he did, the few I've tried never really worked for me. I've tried Ecanasia, which didn't help, & I've tried a few other things. Plus, it's expensive. Although, regular drugs are expensive too.
Are T3's the ones with codiene in it?? Thanks for clearing that up!! I tried looking it up on the web & still couldn't figure it out, lol!!
I don't know, it was such a weird reaction, I can't imagine what happened. You can't die from it, can you?? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but I really don't know. I was also wondering if you could have seizures, because Topamax IS an epileptic drug. Or maybe it was because I took too many Tylenol PM's that day?? If it makes a difference, it was some kind of weed that's supposed to make you REALLY appreciate the Christmas lights.
You wrote about docs prescribing too high a dose of meds for patients. I am on a very high dose of Topamax. But this only happened to me one time. I'm not even sure it's the Topamax. I'm just guessing. I'm also on Cymbalta, Dicyclomine, 2 allergy pills, & prescription Pepcid. And Calcium. So it could be one of those??
What's Gripe water?? Where do you get it?? And I LOVE reading, so maybe I'll check out the book. I'm more into suspense type books, but maybe this is something I should look into. I really appreciate your help!!
Beachguy, what do you mean, all three helped bring back deep memories from before you were in a coma?? And if you don't mind my asking, what happened to put you in a coma??~ You laugh because I\'m different.... I laugh because you\'re all the same ~

Question about a weird thing that happened to me....
I was hit by a stationwagon. Don't worry, the guy broke his leg.
Well, you see, I was hit by a Chevy Venture Van seven years later, and that's caused foot/leg pain. But, the epileptic seizure medication and muscle relaxer, basically, did what marijuana does, except I lossed a lot of weight. A Neurologist tested me and then offered Neurontin. I took it for a month, and stopped. He said he couldn't do anything else. I went to an O.D., M.D., and he gave me Gabitrol, and something else, both something I tried and declined. Then he started me on the muscle relaxer, then added Topamax after a while. That was about the time I went to New York for my high school reunion.
So, for two nights, I drank lots of liquor and one beer. No weed. No Topamax and Baclofen. On Sunday, I drove back to Virginia Beach (10 hours from Amsterdam, NY).
That night, I took my medicine and smoked weed for the first time since Thursday.
At 5 A.M., I shut off the light in my living room and started to make my way to bed.
As I got to the end of the living room, I looked for the light from the window. A flashback from one of my LSD trips had happened, as the window circled around me.
Anyways, I crawled back to bed.
Here's a 2 pics from the car accident that put me into a coma, 10-22-94. I have two more that show the inside, but I can't find them, now. I was hit on the passenger side, the image is reversed.
