Why werent you a confident man and just pull out a piece of paper and pen and say "give me your home phone number", judge her body language, decide, if its a go on the body language, enthusiam in voice etc, then wait 5-9 days to call?

You need approach skills 101.

You have to put yourself face to face with the woman. Asking your buddy to do it is weak in her eyes. Never ask if shes available. They all have boyfriends. So dont ask.
