We went to Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, and last night to see the decorated houses. I took some photos (attached).

Many of the homes there are mini-estates, not typical of the average Brooklyn neighborhood, and people travel great distances for a yearly visit to see the sights. The mild weather, about 50 degrees, felt more like September than December. There was even a guy (or woman) in a â??snowmanâ? costume directing traffic. Other costumes have been seen as well.

In addition to my photos, there are very nice collections of the 2005 Dyker Heights Xmas decorations online:

The Vegas is Brooklyn diner. These establishments usually have many colorful, local characters. I didn't photograph any "social clubs", and wouldn't advise anyone else to, either.
