HaHaHa!!! You Have To Be Shitting Me!!!
Oh my god what total fucking bullshit... I love their 12 steps program.
Here are the steps we take which are suggested for recovery:
1. We admitted we were powerless over marijuana, that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, as we understood God.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God's will for us and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to marijuana addicts and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
Do not be discouraged; none of us are saints. Our program is not easy, but it is simple. We strive for progress, not perfection. Our experiences, before and after we entered recovery, teach us three important ideas:
* That we are marijuana addicts and cannot manage our own lives;
* That probably no human power can relieve our addiction; and
* That our Higher Power can and will if sought.
So what if you don't believe in a "Higher Power"? What if your "Higher Power" is nature? Isn't marijuana natural?
Also check this out from their FAQ:
Q: How can there be marijuana addicts if marijuana is not addicting?
A: "We who are marijuana addicts know the answer to this question. Marijuana controls our lives! We lose interest in all else; our dreams go up in smoke. Ours is a progressive illness often leading us to addictions to other drugs, including alcohol. Our lives, our thinking, and our desires center around marijuana---scoring it, dealing it, and finding ways to stay high" (Life With Hope, p. xi).
And the ULTIMATE safety net...
Q: What is MA's opinion on the legalization of marijuana?
A: The Tenth Tradition of Marijuana Anonymous states:
"Marijuana Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the MA name ought never be drawn into public controversy."
This tradition protects the integrity of the organization. "Anything that can disrupt our unity, and interfere with our primary purpose of carrying the message to the marijuana addict who still suffers, should be avoided" (Life With Hope, p. 93). Therefore, MA has no opinion about the legalization of marijuana.
As for the 12 Questions:
1. Has smoking pot stopped being fun? No
2. Do you ever get high alone? Yes
3. Is it hard for you to imagine a life without marijuana? No, but I wouldn't want to.
4. Do you find that your friends are determined by your marijuana use? Some
5. Do you smoke marijuana to avoid dealing with your problems? At times
6. Do you smoke pot to cope with your feelings? Yes
7. Does your marijuana use let you live in a privately defined world? Sure, if being high for me is better than reality, then I guess its privately defined
8. Have you ever failed to keep promises you made about cutting down or controlling your dope smoking? Yes
9. Has your use of marijuana caused problems with memory, concentration, or motivation? What was the question again?
10. When your stash is nearly empty, do you feel anxious or worried about how to get more? Don't we all?
11. Do you plan your life around your marijuana use? Yes
12. Have friends or relatives ever complained that your pot smoking is damaging your relationship with them? Yes
Well guess I MAY have a problem with my medicinal marijuana use.
