they are wood they are made of certain types of wood...one looks kinda like thuya burl.....burl is wood that is deformed and has natrually high levels of oil in it that give it unusual luster and resilliance to heat .... the reason i know all this is because i make knives and alot of those woods look like stabalized handle wood which is quite interesting....oh and the bowl is so small because the japanese smoke very very potenet tobacco and its like they breath in tiney tokes for a split second its not for pleasure so much as meditation ... i know that because i do some japanese martial arts and keep up on the culture i wish id seen this thread sooner so i could tell you exactly what you were looking for Nausicaa

It was almost like a flute in in size. I was wondering if anyone knew where I might be able to buy a nice, high quality, wooden pipe to smoke out of. I want it to look classy, and long, and that's about it. I can't seem to find one, anyone have any ideas? Rating: 5
