Bubblers are definitely better than pipes, if only because they keep the ash out of your mouth. I also like the smoother smoke you get from them, but some people like their smoke unfiltered, too.

Whatever you do, don't go cheap-- a cheap bubbler is far worse than a decent pipe any day of the week.

If you do get a bubbler, get it from Scutty. I got mine and it works soooo well. They're only 18 bucks, too.

My bubbler cost me $45, and is rather nice, although on the cheaper end-- still all glass, though. You can pay anywhere from $30 for a cheap one to upwards of $100 for a really nice one.

Scutty in the Advertising and Products section has some quality-looking products for ABSURDLY cheap, so you might want to take a look his way before hitting up your local headshop.

there was a really good post with instructions, but i'll try to explain.

get a bottle or really any container with a screw on top. on the top, cut a hole and put in a bowl(wrench socket or whatever). on the bottom of the bowl(coming off of the bottom of the cap) put in piping so that when you put the cap on the container, the pipe amost touches the bottom. on the container, put a hole near the top, and another hole with a tube(for mouthpeice) coming out of the hole.

so you see, you fill it with water, and light up the bowl and it bubbles up from the water, and when you release the carb it no longer bubbles and you suck out of the chamber.

Bubblers are amazing! It's my fav piece. My dumbass friend broke it though so it doesn't bubble anymore =/ I still smoke it dry and it gets me so fucked up. Imo, definately better then a pipe. I gotta buy a new one...

thats how i always smoke. i always called it a bong, a homemade one, didn't know it was a bubbler.

Yep. The homemade bottle bong. Its the first thing I ever smoked out of. I made one, but I just used my trumpet mouthpeice for the bowl. Then my mother took that away. She was like "did you enjoy smoking your pot". I said "Yes". Then it turns out she was a smoker back in the day....wow.

well a bong would be using the top as the mouth peice and you have a diagonal stem going thru the bottle.. eh theyre pretty much the same thing
