    Howdy Caruso,

I voted for the full beard,it does keep me warmer in the winter time..lol,plus,I think clean-shaven men come off as metrosexuals, wimpy city-slickers..lol.

When I went to Saudi,to work on rig,I was told to grow a beard before I went, because clean-shaven men are not respected there.

    Have a good one !

    Howdy Torog,

One of the reasons I want a beard is for warmth, since I will be travelling across the States in one of the coldest times of year. I'd also hate to come off as a wimy city-slicker.

I'm also planning on going to Saudi eventually, so it would be nice to be respected when I did go, if I may ask what was the purpose of your visit and do you have any advice for a future traveller to Saudi?

    Have a good one yourself!

I don't know why, but I always feel it's more respectful to use your message format whenever I reply to you, lol.

    Howdy Caruso,

I went to Saudi,to drill water wells, our completion depth was around 4200 to 5800 feet,so they needed roughnecks experienced on working on a regular land-rig.

If you do go to Saudi, you have to be very careful, there are 'holy men' that will be watching everything you say and do,you cannot look at their women and absolutley no Christian expression of any kind,is allowed, except behind closed doors, even then, you need to close the windows and cover them. Saying Grace before a meal in public, will git you thrown in prison,if you see a car wreck, you must not rescue the occupants, because that's interferring with 'Allah's ' will, don't even think about or ask about, alcohol or weed, you can drink near-beer,but nothing else. Always travel in a group and it's best not be out at night too. Absolutely no profanity in public either..if ya stub yer toe-it's best to bite yer lip-rather than cuss. It's best not to be out on the street, during prayer times too,if you are,go inside somewhere until it's over.

Basically, there ain't no reason to go to Saudi, unless yer working there or unless yer a muslim. They hate Americans there, but if ya act like a German or european, you'll be better off, also, most of em don't believe in deoderant,so don't make any remarks about that either. There may be additional advice and guidelines at the State department, you should go there and read the latest travel warnings for the region,as well.

I'm honored that you feel like responding to me in kind.

    Have a good one !

PS: don't go if ya don't have to !

I voted for the Mountain Man too - it's the time of year to grow one and if you don't like it or it itches, you can shave it off.

    Howdy Torog,

Thanks for the advice, I'll take all of it to heart.

I don't really have to go to Saudi in the since if I never step foot on Saudi Arabian soil I would live a full and satisfactory life. But, in my quest for knowledge, I feel the need to go there to learn more about the people, the culture, and the history of the place, so spiritually speaking, I do need to go to Saudi and every other place I can no matter what the political state.

I am learning German and can speak with a near-flawless accent in almost any language if I have enough time to practice (1-6 months).

As am I honored to have your acquaintance Torog.

    Have a good one!

    PS: I won't if I don't have to.

    Howdy Caruso,

Well sir,I respect yer quest for knowledge and you would gain valuable insight into Arab culture,if nothing else, you'll certainly love America even more after going to the middle-east..I tell you what ! lol

Heck,I was so glad to be back on American soil, that I dang near kissed the ground when I got back-but I didn't because I was at JFK airport and I couldn't bring myself to kiss yankee-land..lol. I waited till I got back to Texas..lol.

Yup..if you could speak German or Dutch, you'd be better off, they ain't got a big chip on their shoulders towards Germans,Dutch or europeans, like they do against Americans.

    I'm honored as well,to make yer aquaintance:thumbsup:

    Have a good one !

Get a big Mountain Man Beard. I have one now and it is badass. Just the other day I was walking through walmart and ran into this thug looking mexican guy. He apologized to me and left my presence at once. It was cool. I'm not sure if he thought I was a badass or maybe a terrorist but you certainly get more respect with a big scary beard.

    P.S.
I also have long hair a resemle leutinant Dan from Forrest Gump. Not a bad way to look.

It's probably the best to stay clean. A lot of people wear facial hair garnishings.:stoned:
I mean, you see a lot of stuff that's not growing in right.

Exactly. I'm not hard up for pussy, so it's not a big deal. Plus, not all girls like clean shaven. Some look too "metro-sexual" when their all clean and cut.

I have a beard and I have for a few years now. I like it. It keeps my face warm in the winter, plus I don't have to worry about slicing myself open using a shaver. I have Parkinsons in my hands, so you can see where using a hand razor would be a problem
