    First Time Grow Journal

Whats up this is my first time growing and I just picked two seeds out of a bag of some kind bud. At first I had no intention of them growing, mainly because they havent seen a day over 50 degrees in the past two weeks and freezing temperatures at nights. They are on their fouth week of veg and recieved 24 hours of light for the first two weeks and then switched to an 18/6 cycle for the rest of veg. Today I just transplanted the larger plant into a one gallon pot out of the six inch cub it was in. I used about 4/5 soil and 1/5 vermiculite. It just recieved its first fert today, Alaskan Fish Elmusion. The roots looked healthy and had just began to poke through the drainage holes when I transplanted them. Preflowers are beginning to develop at all of the nodes, and it looks like purple streaks are beginning to grow around the stem at the newest growth. These pics are the first three weeks of veg on the larger and the first week on the smaller plant, I thought I would have a little more size at almost 30 days into veg though. Hopefully I should be able to update the pictures as much as possible but until then please leave me some advice about what i can be doing better, because it sure would be nice to get some decent buds on my first grow. Thanks.. :rasta:

What kind of light are you using? I think you might have to bring the light closer to the plants or the plants closer to the light. Good Luck tho I'm on my 1st grow too. Im at 3weeks

Your ferns are showing signs of cold...look at the leafs from the center,,,,they are they youngest and will tell you the general condition of the plant.

Your MJ plants are growing at a severly retarded rate due to the cold. The veins of purple are the first indicators of temp problems. You can wrap a giant blanket of 55 gallon trash bags around the plant / light to trap heat from the light.

Or, turn on one of the small mini heaters available from hardware stores. You need to warm it up badly.

At this rate, you might be ready for harvest by fall.....2006

That is simply too cold. The flower pistels would die and thin at those temps non stop. Trust me, I learned.

I have a heater but have been afraid that it would add to the humidity problem I'm already going to have when they are budding? If I can do it though Ill go for it.

Alright, I just put a 1500 watt heater inside the greenhouse and its hovering in the mid 70 degree range. It feels humid as hell though and Im not sure all of the humidity is going to be good for it during flowering. Ill get pics up tomorrow or tonight.. Leave more suggestions..

75 to 85 degrees is optimal for healthy cannabis growth. also keep the humidity between 40% and 80%. I noticed just a small amount of stretching. If your using fluros you can place them two inches from the plant tops to halt the stretching brother. Other than that a damn good first attempt. Many growers quit if they fail their first grow. Errors will teach you so never give up. The more mistakes you make the more you will learn from them. Good job.

Here are some pictures of the new heater that I put in the greenhouse to get the temps up in the 70's all the time and the pics of the plants. The taller one is on the end of the 4th week and the smaller one is on the end of the first week. Leave me some suggestions...

the light needs to be much closer, the big ones really stretching. also, your plants are bending sideways towards a light sorce, if it isnt already put your light directly above the plants and close
    good luck

its using natural light coming from outdoors, and the roof of the green house is a little darker than the side panels... so pretty much the only light they are getting is from out the window.. i have to move them every few hours to keep them growing straight but its all ive got to work with so ill give it a try..
