i, personally, think that i like to smoke pot

that's a fact!! lol

there's a lot that goes into consideration when talking about potency of marijuana throughout a persons life. for instance, a friend of mines mother agrees that the shit we get nowadays is much more potent than what they used to smoke back then. like bonsai guy said, we've got variety.
most of the marijuana smoked back in the sixties and seventies was probably provided from an unknown source out of another country (mexico, columbia, etc). there have been a lot of advances in growing marijuana since those days.

for instance, the government opening up trade with outside governments is a important factor as to why we have more potent marijuana to this day. just a few questions that arise:

1. what's the cause of more potent marijuana coming to the states?
2. what kind of marijuana were europeans smoking in the sixties and seventies?
3. could the trade agreements between nations influence "better" marijuana?
4. does a person still get the same high after decades of smoking?
5. what important advances has there been in growing marijuana?
a. technological advances?

one thing i'd really love to know is why in the hell have the prices gone up so drastically?

personally i don't see how one can andswer that question, not like anyone could becase most likely they have forgot on how good or bad it was back then, i mean come on can you tell now from ur frist joint you ever had, was it that much better now? no study or word from mouth can say yes or no inless we had a time machine(witch would slove omost everything in the would today, if we had one)

The first time I got high was in 68, i think. Two brothers had moved into town and they bragged of having smoked dope. I told them I wasn't afraid to try it...and a few days later at a basketball game, a kid a year younger than me sat down on the bench. "I hear you wanna try some pot," he said.
I didn't really want to...but i surely couldn't back down then. It was this same kid that I would trip with a year or so later. He hung out with the older teens...and they tolerated him, but sometimes tried to run him off. I remember watching the hippies try to pry his hands off of a car seat when he refused to get out of the car as they were leaving for a party in the woods. But he was able to get hold of the better drugs. And once you're in....you're in. Back then you could buy a marlboro box stuffed with good turkish weed for five bucks. A nickel. And there was mescaline. this I found out by accident. my sister was into drugs...and one day after school, I was going through her purse. I found a little pink capsule. I thought it was a downer...and that I could get away with eating it before supper. I emptied out the contents and replaced the contents with crushed aspirin. Yes, I was now a theif too.
Ah....but the music! Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young came out with Deja Vu sometime in the early seventies? or was it 69? No....after Woodstock.
the summer camp outs...beer on the hill. red sunsets....

Anyhow...black opium treated hash, mesc, thc, lsd, cocaine, testers rubber cement(yup...we even sniffed glue), beer, cheap wine, uppers, downers, black beauties, crossroads, animal tranquilizers, etc., etc....oh...and mom had some kick-ass valiums too.

and there were the rip-offs who would sell a kid catnip for grass...or if you wanted an upper, would sell you a downer...

Would have made it through high-school if the booze hadn't kicked in late in my senior year...

not that much different from how i grew up...well...not much different from what i've experiened in the past two or three years. thanks for the memories, man. ooooh, i need to get ahold of this mescaline.

Homegrown was considered as dirt weed. Mexican sold for $15 and ounce and Columbian was $25. I remember the ol' Columbian Gold and Acapulco Gold was the shit!!! I smoked a hash bowl of lumbo gold with a buddy one time and he puked up his supper!! :rasta:

You're right about homegrown. It was always suspect. No where near as much info on growing back then. Just good old Ed Rosenthal.

in the sixties I got mine from Casablanca, Morocco and it was african black and it cost 250. an oz. 1 or 2 hits where good for 4 to 6 hours, we had potent marijuana then also. and Afgainastand hash :thumbsup:
