fill it with water not too much just and inch above where the stem ends. (the stem is the part that goes into the bong and connects to the piece that holds your weed)

if you have a carb (small hole that connects to nothing.) plug it up with your finger

then, you suck in, and light it up right before you do so.

suck until you can suck no more, take your mouth away, breathe out, let go of the carb and suck so it clears the chamber.

First, I'd like to congratulate you on making the choice to use a bong. My personal favorite device.

Step One: Fill the bong with water, 3/4 of the way to the place where the downpipe (pipe that goes from bowl into the chamber) meets the chamber. Use icy cold or nearly boiling water for interesting effects. Icy cold for smoother hits, warmer for a therapeutic effect.

Step Two: Pack the bowl. If you have a carbed bong, just pack the bowl while attached to the chamber. If it is a slide bong, where you can pull the downpipe and bowl out, pull it out. Pack with your best buds, ground finely of course.

Step three: Determine the carb method. If it's a traditional carb, there will be a hole somewhere in the chamber of the bong. Place your thumb over this hole while hitting, and take your thumb off when almost done hitting to clear the chamber of smoke. If it's a slide bong, where you can slide the bowl and downpipe down, then you take your hit, and when you're almost done with your hit slide the bong out, thus clearing the chamber.

Step Three: Place mouth on mouthpiece. Find whatever position is comfortable. Cover the carb/make sure the slide is tight against the cylinder, test the waters (pull some air through the bong without smoke, just to see how airtight and hard to pull it is). Light your weed, hit, clear the chamber, and enjoy.

If you can detach your bowl and leave the downpipe on, you can put a joint in the downpipe.

Man u know what peoples?? i dun smoked green every day 4 like about 4 years now, but i seriously just thought, i aint had a bong hit in like years man!
