1st time grower!(read and help me out)

What up bros, i recently started growing my 1st plant about 2 weeks ago..So far it is 9inches tall and is not looking very healthy..The promblem is that the leaves look very dry and unhealthy...for ahwile the leaves were turning yellow and wilting, drying up on the tips and crumbling. Recently i suspected this drying and crumbling to be from over watering so yesterday and most likely for the rest of today i will not water. (I was watering daily)

Some basic Info i need to know :

1. How often should i water at this stage?

2. How far should the light be from the plant?

3. I grew the plant in miracle grow soil, is this a promblem?

4. why are male plants bad, and how can i tell the sex of my plant?


help me with any of the above things and i would be very happy :rasta:

OK good on you for starting to grow :thumbsup: but the leaves crumbling is probably over fertilizing ? if you have given them any at all... overwatering usually looks like the plant is sad and the leaves droop down all sad mind you its the same with underwatering so its kinda confusing.

1. two weeks 9 inches thats not bad, maybe a glass of water every second day i dont know just go with your instinct you will have to change the watering schedule all the time while growing...also lift the pot right after you have watered and feel how heavy it is ... then when it is light again water it again

2. Well this all depends on what lights you are using ? if you are using CFL then as close as possible without burning it(1 or 2 inch)! and keep a fan between the plant and the light to keep it cool, if it is HPS or MH then like 20 inches or something maybe closer someone else will have to tell you about this.

3. I am not familiar with the soil you are using but i havent heard good things about it (only bad) but that does not mean it wont work you will be fine.

4. male plants are bad because they do not produce the lovely buds we all strive for , instead they produce spermy banana things that will make your females produce seeds and they dont have hardly any thc in the leaves..

There are probably some more things you need to know though but it is the basics.. imp:

5. When do i know it's ready for flowering?

Dude you need to do some reading lol but ill give you the shortcut Ok I dont think youre purple light is going to do the trick, Do you know those energy saving lights,CFL, or fluorescent tubes get as many as you can(cool white for veg & warm white for flower). Get a desk fan, to circulate air and exercise the plant. GET A TIMER set it on 18 hours light and 6 hours darkness.. then after say 3 or 4 weeks of that put it on 12/12 The twelve hours that are dark need to be really dark all the time then you will see the sex of the plants roughly two weeks later... white hairs means female, banana shape pods means male. Also try and maximise the use of your lights get mylar or use dull side of tin foil everywhere enclose the place so to insure no light leaks. The rooms temps will be need to kept down though ideally 25 - 20 celsius.

lol why wont my purple bulb work, its a grow light, says so right on the box lol
