    Etheridge: Pot helped me cope with chemotherapy

    Rocker Melissa Etheridge snorted marijuana fumes as she coped with the side effects of chemotherapy because it was the only thing that comforted her.

    The singer/songwriter, who is now cancer free after her brush with death, used marijuana to help her cope with the worst of radiation therapy on the advice of doctors - but when smoking the drug made her feel sick, she took to inhaling it.

    She recalls: "I bought a vaporiser to heat up the herb, which I'd inhale four or five times a day.

    "Using the pot was the best advice anybody gave me. It relieved most of my symptoms and I got a great deal of comfort from it."

    Etheridge is now urging US politicians to reverse strict laws that forbid people from using medical marijuana.

    She adds: "I'm furious that our country is denying the use of pot as pain relief. It should be legalised for medicinal purposes.

    "I wonder if I'd have got through chemotherapy without it."

    look, im sick and tired of hearing all the bennifits of marijuana, but no one DOING anything about it.

    if it isnt obvious enough, let me spell it out to you.

    the corperations and government will use every penny they have to fight the legalization of anything in relation to hemp, as it will send them all too the poorhouse if anyone ever realized that it can be used in-home to make anything and everything you need to survive and live a healthy life; for free.

    thus eliminating (almost) all power in the corperate and federal government.
    feds = dictatorship
    corperations = monarchy
    we = ignorant slaves who think they are free

    I have read alot about people getting involved to legalize Marijuana. This is one issue I can speak about from EXPERIENCE..when you come out and you do that be prepared to lose everything..your child,your job,your home etc..and have money for a attorney,bond & be prepared to serve time. It's easy to say shut up bitching & do something..but what happens after you "do something"? I realize more states have legalized mj since the mid-eighties when I went through my changes but in some states (Alabama) it's not so smart to do anything but keep your mouth shut and keep on keepin on. I have a good life now but I paid my dues in full & will never again speak freely about my beliefs & practices..call me what you will but I just think it's important for some that come to sites like this to fully understand the consequences of free sppech & "trade practices" in this country. For 6 years of my life I was in a maximum security prison in Wetumpka,Alabama..no parole..no good time..no work release..nothing but hell on earth for 6 years..it almost destroyed me & my child (she's 19 now & fine) I pulled my time to the door because I stood for what I believed in and knew when I was released that I would smoke as soon as I was 5 miles down the road from that place of hell...I did it! State prison is not Federal okay..no AC..no Cable..food not fit for human consumption....and I could go on..it is NOT a vacation...oh! and no medical or dental care. If you have doubts use your computer & do some research on Alabamas prison system. I just want some of you to know that making changes is not as easy as saying just do it..there ARE consequences so be prepared. Oh and the most important part..loss of ANY freedom..we say this is not a free country but do some long,hard time and you WILL appreciate even being able to just walk out your front door without officers escorting you..or just being able to buy cokes & cigs when you want them. Take heed in Alabama...they are changing some laws because our prisons are so overcrowded with non-violent offenders but this is one ass-backwards state...and you can believe it's still the Gool Old Boys club. Now...going to smoke a good one.
