that's a great way to put things into perspective. First, they allowed Hitler to build his armies not realising how powerful he would become, and then decades after saddening us with stories about how many people were killed, people are threatened with jail for pointing out that maybe they didnt allow as many people to die after all.

Which government you talking about Nick? At the beginning of WW2 our military was ranked 17th in the world not to mention we were in a phase of isolationism. The same theory that a lot of you would like us to be living in today! MOST of the American people didn't want shit to do with the European problems of the day. So how did the mean ol' U.S. have so much to do with the rise of Hitler? Oh ya, Bush's grandpa didn't like Jews so lets blame it on G.W.....right? :thumbsup:

The Japanese killed millions of Chinese civilians in WWII. Some estimate more Chinese were killed by the Japanese than Jews by the Nazis. They would take females, little girls to elderly, along with them to use as sex slaves. Then kill them after they had their fun. And yet, hardly anyone knows about it. Why? Because it doesn't serve our interests.

The Japanese were as, if not more, ruthless than the Nazi's when it came to the Chinese, Koreans, etc.... Neither offense should be deminished because of "other" wrong doings. What about Cambodia?

Every time the Japanese even get close to having any sort of political ties with China they have to take one step back with their ignorant attitude and it's also disgusting that our government says squat! This is a fucked up world for sure!

Yep, that's what really pisses me off so much about the way the holocaust is handled. The very fact that our government places so much importance on one and none on the other(not to mention the other atrocities committed around the world) is an insult to both. It's just an admission that the Holocaust is only important because it serves our interest. Nothing more.

Who has the strongest special interest groups? The blacks were persecuted in the U.S. ....what about the Japanese during WW2, what about the Norwegian immigrants, the Irish, Italians...the list goes on and on!

There is a big differance in todays times though, what other group is still listening to talk of total extinction?

nope. Britain was Hitler's only major opposition and America wanted very badly to help them out.

Appeasement was the process in which Britain (under american advisement) just sat back and let Hitler do whatever he wanted.

By wanting a war, America is just as much to blame as Britain was for listening to them.
