I just don't understand how people can go around publicly admitting to their own stupidity. "Hey Matt, did Santa stop by lastnight?" That person would be considered a looney tune if he/she was serious. So why then when we know that there is no such thing as god, and that scientifically it's not possible. I just think the idea of "god" fucks up our preception of the part we play in nature. The idea that some supream being that created us, that we are above nature, makes our society do stupid things to the planet. We (our world) would be much better off without the idea of one. Worked great for the Ionians.

And another thing. (I didn't read all three pages so I might be repeating someone, so I apologize if I am) Just because you believe in a God, doesn't mean your a bible beater. I live your typical college student, smoke, party. etc., and I'm still very much a christian. Granted, I might not be setting the best example, but its all about you on the inside. I could keep going on my spirituaity tangent, but I'll spare you guys

And one last thing. Why worry about what someone else believes? Everyone has a reason for why they believe what they believe, so at least respect that. I think not liking someone because of their personal beliefs is retarded, but thats just my opinion.

and yes, I can say 2,000 years of belief counts for at least not everything. just because a prominant belief took power, and then spent 2,000 years killing people for not believing the same thing and brainwashing the rest, doesn't prove that the theory is true.

You're using an image of the Buddha as an avatar btw. Other than the written word, what evidence do you have that he existed?

Buddha exists in many written records, including that of the Indian royal dynasties, since he was a well known prince before leaving that life, under the name of Sidhartha Guatama. But whether he exists or not doesn't matter, it's his teachings that bear importance in buddhism. We don't worship the buddha, just give him respect for the teachings. as he said (which is in my avatar), you shouldn't believe anything blindly even if said by him, you should find the validity behind his claims in the results of the practice.

besides, I wouldn't be surprised if jesus, muhammad, buddha, any of them existed. I respect philosophies on life, not dogmatic principles that insist on you believing in a creator that nobody ever see's, and nobody ever has evidence for.

tell you what, I'll be mrdevious and you can be mrcondescending. anyway, I think you missed the point because as I explained, THE EXISTENCE OF BUDDHA MEANS SHIT ALL. that's right. We follow buddha because we agree with the teachings. not because some book makes fantastic claims of walking on water, turning water to wine, shooting lightning bolts out of his ass, etc. the teachings on living life are what buddhism is about, not the unquestioned existence of anything.
