They don't even give people a chance to reform anymore. Is sending a crack addict to jail helping him? Or just hurting him more? Point made.

Same idea with mary jane.
Bottom line is we live under the oppression of a very, very fucked up government. Buut, I guess it could be worse.

If we keep allowing our "leaders" to promote fear in order to get them elected, and then demand and eye for eye , a tooth for a tooth, from those charged with crimes, we will one day be left with nothing but a bunch of blind toothless people in our country.
When a human being is strapped to a table and shot-up with poison, it isnt Saddam or Bin Laden we need to worry about. It' us that we need to worry about. We just need to look at one another.

Some good and some bad ideas floating through here.
It's a long-standing debate as to what the purpose of our legal system is. Should it seek justice, or should it seek to rehabilitate people so they can one day contribute to society again?
I am personally against the death penalty, but I do think whether or not you embrace it goes to whether or not you think the judicial system needs to seek justice, and then what exactly justice means. If you do think it's about justice, then what is the just response to murder? And if it's not about justice, then there is simply no leg to stand on for capital punishment.
Personally, I think it's not a good idea to try to convince people not to kill people by killing people ourselves. Idiotic, really.

Killing someone instead of reforming them is a waste of human potential. One person achieves a lot in their lifetime.
