Is a screen not needed for a pipe?

I just got my first pipe

Im tired of using everyone elses, so yea.

I've never seen someone use a screen in a pipe, but can it be used, or does anyone do that?

i prefer screens in pipes, so as not to inhale the ashes.

It's a matter of preference. A screen is necessary when using very small pieces of bud, or shake, etc. Personally, I usually just toss nugs in the bowl, so it doesn't matter. It's up to you.

    Yes
you'll regret it if you don't
    and they don't cost much
just go to a headshop (smoke shop) and buy one... either that or use the greatest invention ever, The internet to find your smoking accessories

Screens in metal pipes are fine.. Screens in glass pipes will scratch the glass and the life of the glass pipe will depreciate.

i usually use them in a metal pipe...

but in a glass pipse, i prefer not to...just take in the smoke gently...many screens get all nasty, and then you have to suck harder like a whore trying to get a damn hit...

if your smoking shake, or ground up bud etc...use a screen...

my pot is usually just barely cleaned, just taken the big stems and beaners out...then i maybe break a nugget in half or something, and toss er in...

You can get special glass screens for glass pipes that won't scratch them, for about $3 at the most. Just ask the guy at the head shop and he'll know what you're talking about.
