yeah, these "JESUS IS GOD" and "GOD IS TRUTH" crap topics are getting depressive...

it shows that there are still many small minded individuals corrupting their religions' good names. it's sad really.

Maybe even though they say "Jesus is God", they're saying that he was the quintessential human who may or may not have been real, but the creator of our Universe. Is "Jesus is God" saying "Jesus is Creator"? To my knowledge, it was "Jesus is The Son of God".

THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS THE BEGINNING

I never understood the concept of being a good Christian by "fearing God". I don't know about you, but I've never been able to make myself love someone I fear. And I've never found reason to fear anybody who's a decent, loving individual. When I am told I need to "fear God", I interpret that as saying that I need to hate God and denounce the idea that he's a decent, loving individual. I'm sure such an idea makes as little sense to theists as it does to non-theists like myself.

Fear has never been the road to wisdom. Especially fear of something that doesn't even exist.

children fear their parents, but they still love em. jesus didnt write the bible, neither did god, or quetzalcoatl, or rama, or zeus, or mohammad, or etc,

THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS THE BEGINNING

So I should fear God in the same way that the child fears his parents (or rather, the consequences his parents will bring about if the child misbehaves)? I should fear what God will do to me if I don't follow his rules?

I have a problem with that statement. Namely, that God never told me what those rules are, and won't even reveal to me the fact that he's going to punish me if I don't follow the rules he didn't tell me. I had to learn all of this second-hand, from people who, from my perspective, are just as credible as those touting hundreds of other gods I hear about with similar arguments why I should believe in them. And curiously they all seem to want my money for some reason.

The Christian will point at the Bible and say, well God's rules are all in here. Then the Muslim will hold up his Qur'an and counter that his are the real rules. Enter the Mormon, who tells the Muslim that the other Christian was right, but he forgot to add that God made a little addendum to the Bible in the 19th century. The Hindu counters that it has been revealed to his people that there are actually many gods, not a single God. Who am I supposed to believe? What credible evidence do any of these people have that their belief is the true belief, that the rules of his god(s) are the real rules we ought to be obeying? That is to say, which God do we fear?

The answer, of course, is that no religion has the slightest shred of objective evidence which could be used to show its veracity, and having nothing else to enforce their arguments with, religious people resort to violence and murder to resolve their disputes. Fear of God has done a lot of negative things for humanity, and if you ask me, the real beginning of wisdom is not being afraid to eat from the Tree of Knowledge, that is, putting all this silly fear of invisible things behind us.
