How NOT to do an indoor grow!
Growers like this only make every grower look bad.
I just had to post about this townhouse I am repairing/renovating.
A small group of retards decided to set up an indoor grow in a townhouse to make themselves some coin. They were in operation for 1 yr before they were shut down by the police and the neighbours.
These guys had made some crude alterations to their rented unit in order to accomodate their grow op. This included smashing holes in walls for duct work, rigging up this crazy looking mess of wires at the electrical panel, permanenltly sealing windows and the patio door etc.
Now the worst of it is that because these geniuses had no exhaust, no dehumidifier, and no idea whatsoever how to keep the place hygenic they caused loads of damage.
The carpets and subfloor have to be torn up and replaced in every room but the livingroom and hallway. ( only carpet needs redone in those rooms)
Several walls have to be torn down and redone right from the studs because of the holes and mold/mildew and water damage.
The unit beside them needs the adjoining wall torn out and replaced due to a water leak left untreated. The windows have to be repleaced in the entire house due to the way they sealed them all shut for security.
All doors need to be replaced from the cops booting them in to gain access to the various rooms. Ceiling insulation is wet and needs replaced.
The tub was torn out to make more room for growing.
Serious electrical work needs to be done with lots of wiring needing replaced.
In short the unit and the adjoining one are sealed and inhabitable until extensive and expensive repairs are done to return them to a liveable state.
With the huge cost of these repairs the landlord is enacting a new set of measures to scrutinize any future tennants which narrows the pool of people who could live there. In addition they will be conducting mandatory 3 month inspections of all their units for "safety violations".
The neighbours have formed a group to monitor homes in their area for signs of a grow and will be forwarding their suspicions to the police.
This has prompted a new local initiative towards cooperation with service persons, mail carriers, and the police to monitor homes. Lists of things to watch for in your neighbours have been circulated with all electricity bills to encourage ppl to spy on their neighbours and report any suspicious activity.
Irresponsible indoor growers like this, with limited know how and no brains are making it harder for clean, careful and conscientious growers to do their thing.
All of this could have been avoided with a little investment in proper equipment and at least semi-professional electrical work.
With neighbours watching neighbours suspiciously and mailmen and meter readers spying its going to be a little harder for these type of dummies to keep their shit hidden. So, in turn more of these type will be busted and the ensuing media coverage will add to the propaganda that all indoor grows are a dangerous, and damaging operation. It makes the industry look bad . The smart pros will keep clean and not get busted but because all the busts will be of these unsafe ops it will appear to the general public that all grow ops are like this.
People worry about fire hazzards, high electriacl prices due to the cost of electricity theft being passed on , increased crim in the neighbourhood, mold infesting their homes and making them sick...its alll being attributed to marijuana growing because of asses like these.
So, if youre going to start a profitable grow in your house....use your fuckin head and do it right. Half ass operations might save you a couple bucks but the cost to the industry is too big to make it worth the skimpng. Educate yourselves before you decide to rent a house and start growing. If you cant be bothered...leave it to those who do give a shit .
my 2 cents.

So who pays the bill for all that? Did the tenants have to pay anything past their security deposit?
Far out in the red-sky,
Far out from the sad eyes,
Strange, mad celebration,
So softly a supergod dies

The tennants are in jail, with their associates being sought. Once it is all said and done they will be persued for the cost of it all but the landlord will likely not see it.
You cant get cash from an inmate, or someone without a job. It will be a long road for him to recoup his costs.
The insurance company is footing some of the bill apparently, but the rest is out of the landlords pocket. This forces him to spend the money that had been set aside for replacing playground equipment that was outdated, as well as funds for other improvements to the community.
So, no play structures for the kids next summer unless neighbours fundraise.HE WHO HAS DESERVED TO DRINK FROM THE OCEAN OF LIFE DESERVES TO FILL HIS CUP FROM YOUR LITTLE STREAM

I think I've been traumatized by my recent stretch of paper writing for college. I'm gonna bite the bullet on this one and read away.

What is the most important thing when you grow?
1. Many Lips Sink a ship
2. The above
3. Fire Safety/Odor control
I'd rather not make a million dollars than spend 5 years in prison, yo...
A million? I don't know, let me think on that.
