no your not safe. lets say they blow one up inbetween boston and newyork, the innital blast would sweep out 20 miles or more depending on wind, the radiation would start spreading first through the lower atmosfear, in large black clouds of fallout rain. in the upper atmosfear the plume would spread toxic smoke and radiation throughout the northern hemisphere of the usa and eventualy to london via the gulf stream. thats just 1 warhead, icbms carry anyware from 50-100 40 megaton warheads. all computer controlled and laser guided to make sure ground cover is total and survivers are NONE.
