I'm all about the humor, but I'll fully admit to not understanding some of the places those crazy brits take some of theirs.
As for it always being better than US... I won't entirely concide that. British humor comes a long way simply on Monty Python and Eddie Izzard alone, but I'd never draw such a totalitarian line as to say it was all better.
That would be like saying ALL british food sucks. And obviously that would be unfair. Afterall, I haven't tried it all...
