Hello Rasta
Like I said personally I would just try and wait a little longer before going on 12/12, but that's just me
The present lot I started at about 7 weeks (still early for me), anywhere from 12 inch to 18 inch is my average for inducing.
However I'm not too fussy about a bit of streching so mine do grow taller pretty quickly
The height I like to have when harvesting the plants is somewhere around the yard (metre) mark.
My impatient time is right now just before harvesting, I know they are not ready yet but I keep looking at the sisccors, thinking "shall I just cut this lot so I can get the next lot started"

as a beginner, you want to stay away from topping, etc... just focus on getting a good grow going
you CAN go to flowering whenever you want, but most wait until thier plant shows alternating nodes, which usually takes about 4 weeks, i always start flowering early, around 2-3 weeks @8-10'', because my plants have to stay shorter than 3ft
since your plant has been through so much (frost, etc), it is really small for its age
just count on it getting between 2-3x its size when starting to flower by the time it is done flowering and start it whenever you want

Hello Rastagal
It (she
) is coming on really well
The bud thing is just new growth, I think it does take on a different look as it gets older
You don't have to "pinch" (top) if you don't want too, some people do and some don't ................I suppose it's just down to personal choice.
I always pinch mine about five days before inducing flowering, it's really very simple
Using small sharp sisscors is a more acurate way but I just use my finger nails. You just simply "pinch" or cut off the new growth at the very top of the plant. However you have to be very carefull not to take of any of the shoots were the new stems will grow from.
With the new growth removed the diagonal shoots at the last node will grow and form two new main stems replacing the one original stem..............and hopefully increasing yeild
Honestly love you don't have to do it if you don't want to, I didn't start "pinching" untill after a year or two of growing
