yes, there is a lot of red tape they put us through but once thru it it works. just be patient and give yourself time to get thru the process (it sounds like you're going for permanent disability?). once you get there you'll get a check retroactive from the day you 1st applied so the sooner you get started the better. while at the social security office ask for what local services are offered. i'm sure you'll be surprised to see what all is available to those in need. yes, it does take time and often hours are spent waiting for the next available attendant but what else do you have right now? your "community services" should be your 1st stop and get your self registered for food stamps and a mediCAID card and i'd do that ASAP. you will have a fridge full of food and be on the list for gifts for the kids at the same time as well as have access to dr's with the medicaid card...later it will become a mediCARE card, once accepted for early retirement trhough disability.

My wife has already gone to Social Services and obtained what is known as an EBT card which can be used to purchase food on a monthly basis and has also gotten Medicaid for herself and our children. However they will not cover me under Medicaid for various reasons. As for the disability I'm not injured so bad that I cannot work however after the accident I lost my job due to lack of transportation and jobs where I live are most difficult to come by. I have walked as far as my legs can take me looking for work to no avail. My brain injury has not affected my intelligence, motor skills or speech but it has caused some severe mood swings which I am told could last months to years. By nature I am a good person but the injury plus current stress causes me to get hostile and combative at times which is not me at all. I don't like yelling or fighting at all. As a matter of fact I condone violence but as you all know the human brain is a very complex organ and injury to it causes abnormal reations. I want to go back to work. I feel totally useless sitting here at home not supporting my family as I should be doing. It's driving me crazy watching all of this happen and not being able to anything about it. Once again thanks to all of you trying to help me get through this. I just can't imagine my kids waking up christmas morning with nothing under the tree for them. It would devaste a child and I cannot let that happen. As for the pay pal account you all were asking me about I set it up however it will take 2 or 3 days for it to activate. i will post the information as soon as it clears. I personally don't have any money to donate (I have my own money issues) but I'd be careful donating a lot of money to him, even toys...I don't mean to sound like a bitch but this is the internet and no one knows him personally or anything.. Maybe someone can give him information on a place near him to get actual donations/food/presents, there's thousands of organizations to help out vs. asking a forum of potheads who almost all have some underlying (usually money) problem or another..

1- I never asked for help. Maybe you need to go back and re read everything again
2- Have'nt sold my only light system yet.
3- Computer belongs to my wife as well and is also used my my oldest child and 56k internet service comes with my bell south phone service which no they haven't shut off yet.
4- If you had children then you would see that they are worth more than your PRIDE which I am already having issues with.
5- Read my past posts regarding that I don't have a garden going at the time.
6- Whats fucking left to pawn? Cars totaled,no jewelry,no income,no stocks or bonds,no job thanks to the accident, wife pawned our wedding ring. Shall I pawn my clothes and run around naked as well.

You should have seen what resources were present 15 years ago compared to today.
Get on the phone to local organizations, churches, disability agencies.
This reminds me of the wannabe bum. They live else where, park there nice car down the street and while dressed in rags, a well writen sign in hand, maybe bring family dog and stands on street corner with sign asking for money.
If your legit man.... Get off the computer and make the phone calls. Set some appointments with organizations and social workers... There's just too much local help you can gain with-out blindly asking, having asked for help by way of pay-pal.

Also, for those of you worried about it being a scam. Do yourself a favor and think of it this way:

If you give him money, you are doing it for a good cause. If he spends it on crack ((which he wont)) then it's not on your karmic record, its on his. You gave your money for a good cause, what that good cause spends it on is not your responsibility. Of course it is a good idea to investigate your potential cause as much as possible, but calling someone a fraud/scam without any knowledge is a bad move, and very low of you.

Do a good thing this christmas, if he does a bad thing with your money, you still did a good thing.
