CITALOPRAM is an anti depressant, a SSRI I believe. I was wondering if anyone could tell if one was taking these and had to have a drug test for opiates and cocaine could it give a false reading of 'positive'. I'm aware that quite a few antibiotics can produce false readings, Amoxicillin for example. Have had a look through Erowid and googled but to no avail. Any info would be appreciated!

I'm not saying they are but anitbiotics can cause false readings. I was inquering whether CITALOPRAM could produce the same false reading. Any info would be appreciated.

I should've explained the situation a lil better. I have a friend who's in a spot of bother with the Po. With certain cases they do a drug tests. Now my mate NEVER touched cocaine before, but yet they tested positive for it. Which really aint gonna help there case! My friend is on alot of meds at present and after a bit of research I discovered that one of the antibiotics, Amoxicillin can induce a false result. So I was wondering if any other of the meds they're on could do the same. I was hoping someone here may know a little more about SSRI' than I. The drug in question is CITALOPRAM. Thankx for your time!
Peace

Amoxicillin is an anitbiotic. This is one of the meds my mate is on. Upon research I discovered that this antibiotic can give a positive result when doing a drug test for cocaine. Some I'm thinking that this could be why they psoitive for cocaine having never taken coke before.
CITALOPRAM is a 'Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors'. It is a form of anti depressant. I was wondering if anyone knew about CITALOPRAM as I can't find much info on it.

I googled CITALOPRAM then refined it with the terms 'false positive' then 'drug screening' and saw several articles mentioning that the margin for error is approx 8.4%. However the most indepth articles required either purchase or membership in a group. The info is there if you care to dig a bit.
