Leagalized bud would be awesome because everyone could grow their own and smoke as they please. But another big issue tied up with bud is hemp. I'm talking about benefits that have nothing to do with getting blunted. If pot was legal then we could use all the hemp products we want, most people on these boards already know what I'm talking about but if you don't then I encourage you to go and look up some info on the subject.
Hemp is the same plant as pot "Cannabis Sativa" just grown in a different way and in different climates. The applications of hemp are wildly various for both the fibre and the seeds.
Also as to the idea that everybody would smoke if pot were leagal: Studies in the Netherlands showed that 8-10% of high-school seniors smoke pot regularly compared to 15-18% of American seniors. In the Netherlands it's not exactly legal but close enough yet less of them smoke, in the US you could go to prison for years for the same activity, yet we choose to do it on a wider scale. Why is that? Think for yourself.
