When i joined cann.com i could get into chat but now im being told i dont have java

I tried downloading it again from
http://java.com/en/index.jsp but it didnt work n it gave me a virus...argh!

I've checked any settings i know off tht could affect it but still no hope...

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out...i miss all u guys in chat

not an expert, but this happened to me a while ago.
So I got a different type of java program, there are loads on the net, they are all free and most work with everything.
I got this one that uses a coffee cup as a logo, cant remember what it is.

hey socks i did the same as you from the same site and had to format my hard drive.
the download puts in a program called gator or gain that gets info off your pc and sending it to all and sundry..get rid of it quick in 'add - remove - programs' in your control panel.
let this be a lesson and never trust 'SUN MICROSYSTEMS' thats the site that puts the beastie on you pc..

Sun microsystems is the java program I use.

Gain and Gator are both fucked up adware/spyware programs, they aren't java related, sort it out, get ad-aware from lavasoft or spybot search and destroy both are free, and get rid of the most common shit like that and kazaa etc etc.

On a side note I've been buggered by getting adware I can't remove, from ad.revenue.net
It's a royal pain in the arse, I got rid of it once before, but cant do it now. gutted.
Anyone got any ideas?

i didnt say gain was java related. i said it was sun microsystems related. so go and sort youself out..

Lol....Sun microsystems took microsoft to court because of the "java virtual machine"(known as jvm from now on in.) Your system needs jvm to process web pages and their content. The best is sun microsystems as it was them I do believe that created the jvm. I see that someone has advised adaware. This is of course good practice to have seeing as nearly everything you download these days has spyware or malware of some sort involved. The best palce to get jvm is from the microsoft website, this is where I got mine from and I believe it just installs itself (I cant remember) Good luck honey. (ohhhhhh, I called ya honey lol) Oh and by the way....sun microsystems won the court case against bill gates....aye...miracles do happen

Shouldn't be too serious, download Spybot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html it's free but you can make a donation if you like. Run that to get rid of the spyware.
I take it you're already running antivirus software and a firewall? If not you should be.
AVG Antivirus http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl7.php and Zone Alarm http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conten...id=zadb_zadown are both free. Run a full virus check and then you can think about getting back into chat. Microsoft no longer offers support for Java, mainly because it's free, so you'll need to get it from Sun http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp will download and set up java for you. Whooooooooooo hooooooo, i got jvm on my hardrive... I can send you it on msn....where are you though? Hmmmmmm? lol Yup, well done that person who advised avg and zone alarm...though I find avg to be ok, it doesnt touch norton. Norton is the ONLY software I have ever bought and find it great, a tad quirky....but basically great. I do get pissed at having to manually delete virus threats though, one small downside of norton is that sometimes, it may find them but you gotta do the rest. This is fine if you know what youre doing but I can imagine it will be pretty shitty for someone who does not know. Anyway, I'm now rambling away to myself.....byeeeeeeeeee. *crawls back under the mop.
