    i need some ppls opinions, i found this little bugger at the hardware store and was wondering if it will be safe to run to CFL's in it at once,, it will be plugged into a extension cord.

    Almost all electrical components you find will have a rating for the amperage and voltage they can safely handle. It's probably molded into the plastic. The cfl's will have the same info. Then compare.

    Since I don't see a ground prong on that socket I would advise against it anyway, however.

    it says 660 watt max total so is it safe?

    way safe. the biggest cfl you will find to fit in that will be a 42 watt, 150watt incondescent equivalent. so a total of 82watts in a socked made for up to 660. you will be fine
