Is anybody out there over 30??
To some degree, Beachguy is correct. When you're in your 40's or 50's or whatever, you're usually in a position where the vast majority of your coworkers are not in to your cup of tea, so to speak and do look down on pot smokers. And they are not particularly interested in your age. They look down on all tokers as being fried, ineffecive, lazy, unreliable etc. Most of us in this age group make it a point to NOT let our coworkers know what we do on our own time for several reasons. First, eventually it gets back to the boss and unless boss is a toker, that's not a good thing. If it eventually gets to the HR folks, and it will, they will also be "keeping an eye" on your patterns, performance, behavior etc. And then there is the office gossip machine that keeps folks talking behind your back. This will happen no matter where you work so why give them any ammo. Also keep in mind that as a parent, one usually is not very forthcoming with that information either. When we were kids, none of us would have even conceived of the idea of turning our parents in to the cops. There was no DARE program teaching kids to narc on their parents. Believe it or not, there really is a stigma attached to drug use and if anything, it's even worse in this new century than in the last one. "When we were kids" (there's that phrase again) there was no drug testing. Not even in the military.
