Blue Bunny, Don't worry about smoking pot. I did it almost daily through both of my pregnancies and my boys are fine (now 26 & 30 years old). Some suggestions. First take 400 units of vitamin E each day. I don't know if they still do it, but the US Navy used to require that all their submariners take that does to protect them from low oxygen levels. It also makes your skin more flexible. I didn't have an episiotomy for either birth and (1st pregnancy) I was the only gal up and walking within an hour of giving birth (2nd time was even easier). Second, take a deep breath or 2 between hits. Third, moderation. And remember, there are such things as pot brownies--check out the cooking section on various pot boards! If you eat it, there's no smoke. Watch your diet, exercise, avoid caffine, tobacco and alcohol-- these are more important that whether you have a little herb now and then. And you may not want to smoke during delivery--I found it slowed contractions and thus prolonged the labor. It did help with the pain and kept me more mellow during it all, so I'd call it a bit of a trade-off. Where I found it to be the most help was those last couple of weeks of the pregnancy. Those weeks are long, you feel bruised on the inside, clumsy, and you get cranky. Pot made my husband's life more bearable during that time by mellowing me out a bit.
