Ah, my first lesson came from a fifteen year old pimply faced friend of mine when I was ten. He taught me "Come As You Are" by Nirvana.. perfect song for a beginner, no? I ran to the library the next day, and picked up the lamest guitar video known to man. Taught me how to tune, and how to play my first six (or so) chords. My second song: Skip To My Loo! The very complex ( ) progression consisted of D and A7.

From there, I got my first electric, and taught myself how to do palm muting. I remember sitting in the laundry room every day wondering how the hell they got that crunching sound on Metallica's "And Justice For All".. took me like a week to figure out how to palm mute. Good times.
