or a 400 watt hetal halide system and a 400 watt high pressure sodium system would be effective as well that way you would not need to change bulbbs for vegitative to flowering cycles.

yea trich, right now i am experimenting with a micro / all fluor grow

it is a 1 sq.ft box, 1x 45w warm white cfl up top, and 4x 15w tube fluors mounted vertically for side lighting.. all pet shop bulbs... 1x exo-terra repti-glo 8% UV-B, mostly blue, 1x zoomed ocean sun strong blue, and 2x hagen aqua glo strong in red and blue, appear purple to the eye ... total 105w for 1sq.ft... sofar my results are lookin very nice.. but im only almost halfway thru flowering.. with the corrects spectrum lights / soidro setup i have seen growth roughly equal to my main box grows

my main box is 3sq.ft. with a 150w hps and will soon incorporate those same 4 tube lights for side lighting

a 1kw light will give ya the penetration for sure.. but i prefer to use flors because my total operating cost is less than half the wattage, and my garden is small enough to use them, since fluors don't have penetration at all they aren't that good for side lighting on gardens that are much larger than mine, for small grows of 2-3 plants though they are great :thumbsup:
