    Drug tests in UK?

I have been meaning to post this for awhile but always forget. Has anyone in the UK been drugs tested at work?

If they did it at my work half the workforce would test positive including some of the managers.

If they started doing it, i reckon there would be a lot of job vacancies, everyone is used to being able to take anything they like and not have to worry. I know if my job at the newsagents started testing, i'd be the first to resign.

    Drug tests in UK?

I have a good story to tell about this.

I applied for a job in Scottish Power. It was quite highly paid and the agency told my 30 people had applied but only 5 were going to be chosen. I didnt have that much experience (I had only just turned 18) but went along for the open day anyway. On the first day we all spent about 4 hours supervised taking part in various team building exercises and only 15 people got selected for the next stage of the interview the following day. I managed to get through somehow.

The next day we were told only 9 people were going through to the next stage and we all had to sit a couple of tests which I managed to pass and got through to the final interview.

The final interview was with 3 team leaders from Scottish Power and was the hardest interview I have been to, to date. I got grilled for over an hour and left the interview feeling exhausted and disheartened.

I couldnt believe it the nexy day when the agency phoned to tell me I was one of 3 people out of the 30 who got the job!

1 week later a welcome pack came though, advising me I would have to go for a drug test on the 15th.

In the last 2 weeks I had taken coke, speed, weed and E.

I dont know why, but I went for the test anyway. I spent the run up to the 15th detoxifying myself and when I turned up at reception, the lady took a look at my paperwork and told me it was the 15th of next month.

Total pothead lol, couldnt even get the date right. Anyway, I went home, sparked up a joint and never went for the test the following month.
    What an ordeal! :stoned:

    Hehe wow how cool.

That saddened me to read that, that you got away from being tested, and then you didn't even go to the one a month later, to get the job

Didn't you want it after you realised you'd be tested?

Nah I went for my current job, which I have been in for 2 years. It kinda put me off when they said they were doing a drugs test, I felt negative about the job, probably all the worrying before the test!
