    SCROG ?.......

I'm attempting a scrog and was just wondering how long i should let them grow through the screen before putting them on 12/12? These pics are of day 16 veg. These are clones. Should i top them so the under growth has a chance to catch up? Any input is appreciated. Thanks ahead.

    SCROG ?.......

I'm not yet an expert..but is that a sea of green or a screen of green??? incase u arent aware a ScrOG involve the use of a mesh or chickenwire!..perhaps u should add a mesh and you can then TRAIN the canopy horizontally under the screen and thus the plats will not get too tall and the canopy will be on an even horizontal plane! the buds will naturally turn up through the mesh towards the light! maybe u knew that ...but i cant see mesh screen in the photos!

The screen is there. You can see it best in the forth pic. Its a home made version of chicken wire. I'm just not sure if i should change the light hours now or when the tops start coming up through the wire. I started training them on day 7 by tying them down. The lower growth is about an inch from the screen. I'm sure in the next 7 days they will be coming through the screen. What i am thinking is waiting one more week and starting 12/12. With seven more days that would be a total of 23 veg days. Is this enough vegging time?

    SCROG ?.......

Assuming that the mother plant was in her PRE-FLOWERING phase ...the clones should be ready.....but u need to look to see for yourself...im sure the buds will all burst through if u start the 12/12 cycle..and u can train them accordingly..the dcision is yours ..maybe wait 2-3 more days....is that a bubbler?? and what size are those pots?? i fancy using the same set-up!!

Puffy they will grow anywhere from 8"-16" more in the flower cycle dude. Most people I know who grow Screen of Green method crop their plants so the side shoots and the main cola all grow at the same height. That way all they need to do is to poke the through the holes in the screen and tie back the rest. There is no lower light or buds. You almost lollypop the plant in fact.

    Did that help?

    Question Zandor,

So, I 'poke' the buds/colas up through the screen's holes.... right?

When you say 'no lower light or buds'... Can I assume you're refering that no light penetrates 'downstairs', and, because of one's training, there are no buds 'downstairs'? You place all the buds 'over' the screen...

Z, do I have this right?
    Or am I assuming wrong?

BTW: Yes, it is helping.

    SCROG ?.......

    You have it correct.

Screen of Green is where you flower only tips of the plant. By the time you poke all the end tips through the screen the light will not penetrate worth a dam. You can add sidelight but then it's not a Screen of Green.

SCOG is top light only so you only get the tips of the branches or main colas that are long enough to poke through. Once they do and fill out (you still need fan leaves) there is no light for the rest of the plant. If you lollypop it then the plant will not put energy into saving the lower parts of the plant and trying to flower them. You want the plant to put all it's energy into flowering the tops.

    Hope that help.

Well you still need fan leaves so you can't cut them just tie them back. You will bend alot so just use caution and make large slow bends or something may happen you don't want to happen. :cursing: It's not that hard just common sense you will be fine.
